St Vincent De Paul Long Term Care Facility aims to provide an environment to ensure that our residents to live with dignity and a good quality of life.  Active Ageing is a broad term, which can be used to describe a positive outlook and active elderly participation in physical, social, cultural and religious activities. Over the past few years we have introduced a number of activities to enhance active ageing and promote active inclusion.

Pet therapy is an ongoing service where professional dog handlers provide therapy sessions for our residents. Studies have shown that pet therapy has many benefits for the elderly including improved communication, improved physical activity and improved sense of wellbeing. In addition, in persons with dementia it improves ability to reminiscence and improves communication.

Toi Toi sessions organised through the Manoel Theatre have also been introduced within the facility. These sessions engage residents through activities that will evoke memories through reminiscence techniques, encourage singing and movement, whilst stimulating imagination.

Additionally residents are able to attend theatrical presentations at the Manoel theatre including plays and musicals.

The Active Ageing Unit at St. Vincent de Paul Long Term Care Facility organises activities within and out of the facility. Numerous outings are organised throughout the year including barbeques, local feasts, visits to Gozo and other interesting places. Group activities are held within the facility including tombola, cinema, reading sessions, card games and many others. On a daily basis residents are assisted to attend mass held in the church and also to attend any religious feast organised within the premises. One of the main events is the celebration of the feast of our patron San Vincenz that is celebrated on the 27th September.
