Podiatry Service

The Podiatry Service is designed to assess, diagnose and treat conditions of senior citizens, related to the foot and lower limb. The podiatrist who forms part of a team of Allied Health Professionals, offers a comprehensive range of footcare services, such as skin (e.g. warts, calluses and blisters); toenail (e.g. thickened, discoloured and ingrown toenails); injury to the foot and ankle and other complications related to diabetes in the foot or having a problem with walking.

WHAT YOU'LL GET

An Assessment and Treatment of the foot and its related condition.

Examination of the blood circulation and foot nerves.

Any advice which is deemed necessary.

ELIGIBILITY

General eligibility criteria:

  • A senior citizen over 60 years of age
  • Residing in a Government Residential Home or forming part of the Public Private Partnership scheme
  • Living in his personal home and who cannot access a government clinic due to health and frailty. A Service is also given to a senior citizen whose home has structural barriers and when a lift is not available

DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED

General documentation:

  • Medical Report signed by the general practitioner
  • List of any medication being taken
  • Should the senior citizen be receiving other services (e.g. home nursing), an Information Note from such would be required
